The music theory exam venue provided by our institution has been officially recognized by ABRSM as an authorized educational institution.

Whysomusic is the first institution in Hong Kong to offer an ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory Mock Exam. This exam will be held at an ABRSM-authorized and certified exam venue, ensuring the highest standards and providing an excellent testing environment for candidates. Hosting the mock exam helps candidates become proficient in using computer equipment and mastering relevant software application skills. Through this mock exam, candidates will familiarize themselves with the exam format and requirements, helping them excel in the real exam. During each mock exam, we provide professional invigilators and technical support staff. They assist candidates in using the computer equipment and related software for the exam, and provide timely support and solutions in case of any issues during the exam. By establishing such a support system, we ensure that candidates receive the necessary assistance and guidance throughout the entire exam process, allowing them to focus on completing the exam without worrying about technical difficulties. We are committed to providing a stress-free and well-supported exam environment, enabling every candidate to showcase their potential and build a solid foundation for their future in music. Practice Questions

Currently, ABRSM only offers one set of online Grade 5 music theory mock exam questions, leaving students with limited experience in practicing these mock questions online. Our team of professional tutors is responsible for creating, verifying, and grading all Grade 5 music theory mock exams. Since candidates cannot practice with real exam software or questions beforehand, we offer a comprehensive service to ensure they are well-prepared for the exam.

Online Registration

You can register online by filling out a Google form. After registration, we will provide you with a username and password for the mock exam system, allowing you to access the system. This system will offer you the best preparation experience and help you succeed in the exam.

Mock Exam Date

On the 15th of every month, new exam slots will be available for candidates to book a mock music theory exam. It is recommended to book at least five days in advance to ensure a smooth exam experience.

Steps for Reserving a Venue for a Mock Music Theory Exam

  1. Fill out the online registration form provided by Google Forms.
  2. Verify the accuracy of the form, fulfill the payment, and upload the payment proof.
  3. Submit the form.
  4. Await confirmation from WHYSOMUSIC and receive a confirmation notification via email.
Applicants will receive a confirmation email within 3 hours after submitting the form. Payment confirmation is required to consider the submission as confirmed. If applicants do not receive the confirmation email, please check the spam folder.

Reservation Guidelines:

  1. We update the available time slots for booking mock music theory exams for candidates to reserve online music theory exam facilities and invigilation services on the 15th of each month.
  2. Applicants must fill out and submit the electronic registration form to proceed with the reservation process. No other forms of registration applications will be accepted.
  3. The form must be completed by applicants who are at least 18 years old; WHYSOMUSIC will not complete the registration form on behalf of the applicant.
  4. Multiple candidates will use the assigned exam facilities in the exam room simultaneously.
  5. Applicants must reserve the exam venue at least one week before the date of the online music theory mock exam and must make full payment immediately after submitting the form; otherwise, the reservation will be canceled.
  6. Applicants should carefully verify and ensure the accuracy of the information provided on the form. WHYSOMUSIC is not responsible for any registration errors or overpayments. All fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable to other personnel or for other exams or purposes.
  7. Applicants must ensure that the information provided is accurate. A $50 administrative fee will be charged for each change to the information on the form.
  8. WHYSOMUSIC will arrange the reservation for online music theory simulation exam facilities and invigilation services based on the information provided by the applicant. If incorrect information leads to the inability to successfully take the exam, the application will be considered invalid. All payments received, including fees for reserving online music theory mock exam facilities and invigilation services will not be refunded.
  9. Submitting the form does not guarantee acceptance and confirmation of the application.
  10. After submitting the form and completing the payment process, applicants will receive a confirmation email for online music theory simulation exam facilities and invigilation services issued by WHYSOMUSIC within 3 hours. Receipt of the confirmation email confirms the reservation. If applicants do not receive the confirmation email, please check the spam folder.
  11. Availability of online music theory simulation exam facilities and invigilation services is limited, and arrangements will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations will be held.
  12. Candidates must present the confirmation email for the online music theory simulation exam (in hard copy or electronic form) and bring valid identification documents to enter the exam room. If these documents are not presented, invigilators have the right to terminate the exam for the candidate. If the exam ultimately cannot proceed, invigilators have the authority to ask the candidate to leave the exam room immediately. WHYSOMUSIC will not offer rescheduling or refunds for the reserved exam facilities and invigilation services.
  13. WHYSOMUSIC will not provide refunds or changes in exam times and dates due to personal reasons.

whysomusic strictly adheres to the guidelines of ABRSM online music theory exams to provide mock music theory exams. Candidates are advised to read the Guidelines for Renting the Venue for Mock Music Theory Examinations before making a reservation.


Before Logging in for the Exam
    • Candidates must arrive 5-10 minutes before the scheduled exam time; entry will not be allowed for latecomers.
    • Candidates must present the confirmation email issued by whysomusic (in hard copy or electronic form) and bring the following items to the exam room 5-10 minutes before the start of the exam:
      1. Confirmation email issued by whysomusic
      2. Valid Hong Kong ID card or passport with a photo of the candidate
      3. Blank scratch paper (optional to bring)
      4. Blank staff paper (optional to bring)
      5. Stationery (optional to bring)
    • Candidates must bring the original valid identification document with their photo for verification (candidates attempting impersonation or having others take the exam on their behalf risk disqualification). Examples of valid identification documents include:
      1. Hong Kong ID card with a photo
      2. Passport with a photo
      3. Birth certificate / Hong Kong ID card without a photo, accompanied by a student ID/student handbook (with the candidate's photo and English name matching the admission ticket)
During the Examination
  1. Technical support and invigilators are available during the exam to assist candidates with computer operations and any computer-related technical issues regarding exam answering.
  2. If a candidate logs out of the exam system due to human error during the exam, such as mistakenly closing the browser or turning off the power, the system will immediately activate security measures to prevent re-entry for the exam.
Translation
Candidates can choose one of the following languages when registering: English, Traditional Chinese.

Result Release
  1. After submitting the exam paper, candidates will receive an automatic email notification from the system after 40 minutes. Applicants can view their exam score report by clicking on the link provided in the email.
  2. The validity period of the score report is 7 days from the day of the exam; it will expire if not accessed within this timeframe.
